Product Description The #1 New York Times bestselling author and producer of the Fox television hit, Bones, returns with a spectacular new Tempe Brennan novel. There are 206 bones in the human body. Forensic anthropologists know them intimately, can read in them stories of brief or long lives and use them to reconstruct every kind of violent end. 206 Bones opens with Tempe regaining consciousness and discovering that she is in some kind of very small, very dark, very cold enclosed space. She is bound, hands to feet. Who wants Tempe dead, or at least out of the way, and why? Tempe begins slowly to reconstruct... Tempe and Lieutenant Ryan had accompanied the recently discovered remains of a missing heiress from Montreal to the Chicago morgue. Suddenly, Tempe was accused of mishandling the autopsy -- and the case. Someone made an incriminating phone call. Within hours, the one man with information about the call was dead. Back in Montreal, the corpse of a second elderly woman was found in the woods, and then a third. Seamlessly weaving between Tempe's present-tense terror as she's held captive and her memory of the cases of these murdered women, Reichs conveys the incredible devastation that would occur if a forensic colleague sabotaged work in the lab. The chemistry between Tempe and Ryan intensifies as this complex, riveting tale unfolds. Reichs is writing at the top of her game. Unabridged Compact Disk Includes a Bonus MP3 CD of Kathy Reichs' Deja Dead

Absolute Reichs... September 4, 2010 JB (Houston, Texas) With the exception of 1 or 2, I have read every book that Kathy Reichs has put out. And, as usual, this book is typical and excellent without exception.
This book happens to be one of my favorite of the Tempe Brennan series. In this book she is accused of botching an autopsy, something that she seeks out to prove not true. Rather than the usual North Carolina or Montreal, Tempe is in Chicago. As usual, Andrew Ryan is on the scene, adding to the mix of sexual tension & adventure.
In the end, Reichs crafts up one of the most exciting endings to a book that I have ever read. It was fabulous & horrifying. It made me physically cringe. Phew.
Enjoy reading this novel; it is everything that you've come to expect from Kathy Reichs and her writing.
Bones August 23, 2010 R. Jones I have now read all of the Brennan books on my Kindle, have begun to read the series again, and look forward to "Spider Bones" release on Aug 24th. I have watched the TV series "Bones" and find that Tempe of the books is a far more interesting character than the one played by Emily Deschanel.
I have enjoyed each book immensely, find the forensics fascinating and find Dr. Reichs' writing style enjoyable. It is somewhat disjointed but easy to understand. I enjoy Tempe's time in Montreal, and reading the French words and phrases takes me back to college French courses and a little time spent in Paris a few years ago. Hope that Tempe's and Ryan's relationship continues to improve - they just need to talk more. I like all the Reichs' characters but, please, Dr. Reichs, no romance with anyone but Ryan. Ah, those wonderful blue eyes!
Between Reichs and Cornwell I have had quite an education in forensic anthropology and forensic pathology.
good read August 21, 2010 Ravenlane As I read I picture the actors playing the parts in the TV series Bones. But over all The series in itself is fantastic. I just wish I could meet the author herself
Three Kathy Reichs Books August 17, 2010 G. E. MOSHIER (Montana) I received all three books I ordered in good time and great condition. Thanks Amazon, great service as always. Also got "People of the Longhouses" same as above. Thanks for being a great website to order from!!!
What a let down. July 3, 2010 Julie Dowdy (Westerville, Ohio) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Sometimes I wonder if I've read the same book that these people who write the "blurbs" have read because my book and their book *points up* aren't even remotely the same.
It's been awhile since I read Reich's last book so maybe I don't remember the tone of the previous books being as utterly snippy and sarcastic as this one is. Reichs is falling into that same trap as Patricia Cornwell - making her lead character a bitchy, bitter woman for not reason at all.
Tempe was positively irrate the entire book and not in a funny way. The snarky one-liner's and constant sarcasm came across like nails on a chalkboard. I prayed that someone, anyone, would stop, turn and look at her, and say, "Do you need help removing whatever it is that's jammed up your butt?" There's a fine line between a Strong Female Character and a Bitchy Female Character. They are not the same and I don't appreciate women like the latter. It's not empowering.
All the wishy-washy crap between her and Ryan that had been so well cleared up in the last book was back again. I just thought, "It's been twelve books. Can you make up your mind?" I know relationships can be complex and I shouldn't expect so much out of a woman who took 10 books to divorce the husband she'd been separated from for umpteen years. *eyeroll*
The plot itself was boring, there was entirely too much conversation and endless explaining, and the sub-plot of New Co-Worker Tries To Ruin Career is so overdone, is so utterly predictable, and such a waste of time! And, of course, all that subplot did was make her bitchier. Because that's what she needed. More bitchy.
There's a bunch of hours of my life I'll never get back
