I enjoyed reading it before I gave it to my grandson, he did too once he finally picked it up and started reading it.

5 out of 5 stars Something for the student just leaving primary school   April 17, 2009
Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA)
Legends are just suppose to be stories that never really happened, right? "Curse of the Bone Pirates" is an adventure novel aimed at younger readers who are just starting to embrace the world of the novel. Big B's grandfather is ill, and it seems what's ailing him has root in the legend of B's home island. Saddled with solving these mysteries, Big B embarks on quite the journey and adventure. "Curse of the Bone Pirates" is a consideration for those looking for something for the student just leaving primary school.

5 out of 5 stars Beyond the Book   January 31, 2009

As a food retailer, I am familiar with Nui and all the great things this company does for children's charities and health education. Knowing their commitment to the environment and education, I had to read this book as soon as it came out. I was not disappointed! It is a fast paced story that weaves educational environmental facts into the story. Before you know it, you've learned a lot about the concerns our planet faces and what we can do about them. After reading several eco-facts that I didn't know, I felt compelled to explore the Nui website. Their website offers even more of the same great info and adds many kid activities.

Well done, Nui & B.T. Hope! I can't wait for the next book!

5 out of 5 stars Eco Adventure   December 31, 2008
Tara of Tara's View of the World (Canada)
This is a delightful fantasy filled book. I enjoyed reading it and I'm sure the young readers in your life will love it too. I found the book easy to read and the adventures kept me entertained and engaged throughout. I appreciated how the author wove important ecological lessons into the story without sounding preachy. I have found most of the kid's in my life to be VERY interested in the environment and what we can do to help save our planet and this book plays into that interest perfectly. I also think this book has enough adventure and intrigue in it to keep even reluctant readers entertained.

5 out of 5 stars A great adventure/mystery book - one of my favorites.   December 22, 2008

I'm 9 years old and read lots of books, especially mysteries. I really enjoyed Curse of the Bone Pirates because it was funny, a little bit scary, and all the while entertaining. I feel like I got to know Big B, Sam and Nalu as real people and not just fictional characters in a book. Their adventure came to life and I actually felt that I was taking part in it.

It was hard for me to put this book down once I started reading it. My Dad would have to rip it out of my hands at night and make me go to bed. I didn't want to, though. I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened next.

This was a great adventure/mystery story. A lot of times I'm able to figure out the ending right at the beginning of the story. But with this book I couldn't. Every time I thought Big B's Grandpa was cured, the story took another turn and kept on getting more interesting, making it even harder to put down.

I recommended this book to my friends and my school's librarian. She read it and now she wants a copy to put in our library.

I hope B.T. Hope keeps writing more books because I really enjoyed this one.
