Something Truly Special August 6, 2010 Nicole Ostrander (Greenfield, MA, USA) Jeff Smith's Bone is a wonderful adventure story that can be enjoyed by all ages. Many of its characters are cartoonish in both personality and appearance, but they are still easy to root for and care about. This volume manages to tell a compelling story and weave interesting mysteries while still filling the story with great humor bits and introducing several compelling mysteries that will want to make you read the next volume as soon as possible.
This version of Bone has been colorized, and it looks wonderful. While reading it, it is hard to imagine that it was once in simple black and white. Although it is slightly larger than a typical book, it is still small enough to carry around and can easily fit into a purse or a backpack.
I would highly recommend introducing Bone to reluctant readers. Although it is a comic rather than a novel, the writing is top notch, and its story should be able to ignite a love of reading in many children. One word of warning: because Bone is highly addictive, you probably won't want to stop at just one volume. Be prepared to shell out for the rest of the series after getting this one.

BEST BOOOK EVER June 14, 2010 THIS BOOK IS AMAZING!I FINISHED THE ENTIRE SERIES AND WAS GREAT. THE 9'TH BOOK IN THE BONE SERIES, CROWN OF HORNS, WAS KINDA SAD. MY FIRST BONE BOOK CAME FROM MY COUSIN. HE ALSO GAVE ME BOOK 2 AND 3. THEN AFTER I FINISHED THE SERIES I GOT A FONE BONE PLUSH. I GOT IT FROM A STORE IN NEW YORK. BOOK 1 I LIKED THE BEST IN THE SERIES. I HOPE OTHER PEOPLE WILL LIKE THE BOOKS!
Bone review April 6, 2010 The book was about three creatures that left their home (I'm not telling you why) But I will tell you if you like adventure stories you should read this book. My favorite character in this book was Smiley Bone because he's funny and he'll do anything. I liked this book because it's an adventure into a new world. You should read this book because it's an exciting, funny, scary adventure.

One of the best books November 4, 2009 Mrs. Duarte's Class (Colorado) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read this book named Bone because it has alot of series of that book but my favorite was the first series of the book. Also because it has a lot of adventure. This book is about three cousins named Fone Bone, Phoney Bone, and Smiley Bone. They get kicked out of Boneville in to an uncharted desert. But then they get separated from each other. Also they get reunited in this small village. Which they meet Grandma Ben and her granddaughter named Thorn. But what they haven't know'n that they were being watched by some rat creatures that want to eat the Bones. Another thing they dident know is that Thorn's Grandma was a princess. The only thing that helps the Bones from getting eaten is the Big Red Dragon is always protecting them when they least know it it. The dragon is the only thing that keeps the rat creatures away from the Bones. One of the biggest rat creatures is Kingdock, he is the one that tells the rat creatures what to do. But there is another person that works with the rat creatures, its a human but he/she always wears a hoodie so you can't tell who it is and it's after Phoney Bone's soul. So this a kind of book that you would read if you like cartoons, or adventure books.
